ณิช อมรเกียรติ์ นักข่าวสาวไฟแรง เธอเพิ่งเรียนจบนิเทศฯ และได้งานเป็นนักข่าวสมใจ ณิชมีพี่สาวชื่อ ภรณี ทั้งคู่กำพร้าพ่อ-แม่ตั้งแต่อายุประมาณ 10 กว่าขวบ สองพี่น้องจึงต้องมาอยู่ในความอุปการะของ แม่ชีสุดา น้องสาวของพ่อ แม่ชีสุดานั้นบวชตั้งแต่ยังสาวด้วยศรัทธาในพระพุทธศาสนาอย่างแท้จริง แม่ชีพาณิชและภรณีไปอยู่โรงเรียนประจำ และพยายามส่งเสียให้ดีที่สุด แต่ก็เป็นภาระแทบจะเกินกำลังของแม่ชีที่ไม่มีรายได้อะไรมากนัก แม้ทั้งคู่จะเรียนเก่งจนได้ทุนเรียนดีทั้งคู่ทุกปี แต่เมื่อต้องเรียนระดับอุดมศึกษา ภรณีก็ตัดสินใจเสียสละให้ณิช ภรณีเลือกเรียนสายวิชาชีพ ภรณีทำงานและเรียนไปด้วยเพื่อช่วยส่งเสียให้ณิชซึ่งสอบเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยในคณะนิเทศศาสตร์เรียนจนจบ ณิชเองก็เรียนไปและทำงานไปด้วยเช่นกัน
